This week seemed to me to go really well! It
was fun because we made a meal plan and kind of followed it. MMMMmm! We
ate really well this week when we were both at members houses and in our
own Wohnung! We made linguini with sauce, taco salad, some pesto pasta
stuff, annddd now we are out of money and food. Oops. That's okay
because we get money in our accounts soon to buy food. Haha, the mission
life is funny. All we have left is some cheese, carrots, apples, and
cereal (no milk though). Those things do not really go together. Ah
well.
I also bought myself a Christmas present from my family. Thanks
for the coat and gloves, Dad! I hope the bill doesn't hurt too much!
This
week we had an Austausch (splits) with the AP's. That split helped me
so much. I learned a lot about how to better plan and how to contribute
more to my companionship. That was really helpful because it made me
step up and do stuff. I can't always hide behind my companion with
really good German!
We had a new investigator flake on our appointment,
which is too bad. He is one of the normal investigators who speaks
German instead of an outlandish language. Hm. That was too bad. But the
positive thing this week was that we placed 7 Books of Mormon! Isn't
that awesome? Our goal was 2. That was cool.
So we decided that the biggest problem right now is
that we do not have enough investigators. So we went out and decided to
go and find one in the park. We really wanted a family. and to give out
two Books of Mormon to people who would read them. So with our plan in
place and a prayer we went out looking. We talked to a lot of people,
but the majority of them are friendly until we pursue asking if they
want to learn more about the church. One lady seriously just backed off
as if she was fading away; it was funny. But we found a family. An
American lady, actually. She grew up in Oregon but married a German and
now lives here with him and their two kids. She was not really
interested in the church because she doesnt want religion but we are
going to try helping their family move soon. Then we will send the
Hamburg missionaries to her up in the Berlin mission! Haha, if we can.
At this point we had not handed a Book of Mormon out. We were on the way
to the Bahn and a guy stopped us on the street saying that he had been
watching us and wanted to knkow who we were. That was cool because we
got to tell him everything. Handed the Book out, he said he would read,
and he has our number when he wants to talk about it. Not more than a
minute later we ran into a lady we had seen in the park multiple times,
talked to her (auf Englisch!) and did the same thing. That was cool.
We talked to an Evangelisch Pastor to see if we could
come to any of their activities... and he was not very nice. But we got
the number of a man who gardens there! Haha, that was cool.
The other day I attended a funeral. On accident. My companion and I
were doing service at a member's house in the yard and in the middle of
the yardwork they buried their cat that died just the day before. That
was interesting. As missionaries we aren't supposed to be going to
funerals! Oops.
It is crazy that I have been out for just over a month.
It seems like longer, although it also feels as if only a week has gone
by with my companion.
I really love Germany.
