March 3, 2014

This week there had a theme of how strong women can be. For some reason, that was a theme in scripture study (including the Old Testament) as well as in the work here! It was so interesting. Women are wonderful. What more can I say?
Honestly, though. Somehow they are great. The people who are making progress right now are women. People are coming back to church. People are standing up for themselves against others who are against the church. It is so cool! And no, they are not all women, but the majority of the people who are willing and ready to make progress in the gospel right now are. It is so cool to see that people are willing to do what is right and make their own lives better!

I will be honest -- it is not easy to get dropped by two people in the same day. But it is really encouraging to meet someone new that same day who is extremely ready to take it on! Things are really wonderful for the people who are willing to make the effort to change for the better.

On the other hand, there is a holiday in Germany that I discovered! It's called Carnival. It started Thursday and lasts until Tuesday. It's pretty much like a mix between Halloween and Cinco de Mayo -- and the adults party hard. It is honestly quite strange to see adults everywhere just walking around in costumes and living an entirely worldly life until Tuesday -- because this is the time for them to do all the things they want to. Tuesday they burn some straw man or something as a symbol of all the things they have done (a.k.a. sins) being burned away. Oh how confused the world can be...

I am grateful that we understand what the Atonement really is and how to truly repent. Following the commandments makes it simply so much easier and possible to make progress in this life (and in the life to come)!

We did tons of service this week. We went to the forest to gather wood for the Familie Titz and Pieke. We were chopping, carrying, and transporting wood for 5 hours! That was really fun. I love this family very much!

By the way, it felt like spring this week. It was warm enough to eat ice cream -- so we did. Ü. Yum!
Liebe Grüße,
Elder Jack
