July 21, 2014

A good solid week in Aachen/Euskirchen. Ü I went on two splits this week, one with the zone leaders, and one with the district leader's companion Elder King (who was my companion last transfer). Splits are a great chance to see something different and experience new ideas! I am glad they happen. In my old city Euskirchen we had solid teaching appointments and finding opportunities. I love knowing that my old area is in good hands! I even heard that an investigator we found earlier is now trying to keep the Word of Wisdom and will quite smoking and drinking and all that other yucky stuff. Things are so good!
We found a great investigator who seems to be not only intellectually sound (missionaries seem to attract other types sometimes...), but is also very spiritually ready to hear this message. It is cool to see how the spirit works in people who have not had many spiritual experiences in their lifetimes yet. He does a great work!
We had a fun finding activity in Aachen after a Distric Meeting and got to hand out Books of Mormon as well as bear some great testimony to a lot of people! The Sisters in the district "won" in that finding activity because Sisters just rock, I guess. It's good there are more of them in the mission field than before!

Saturday was fun because we had zone training as well as interviews. The training itself was great and had insightful techniques to help us talk to people in a more spiritually progressive way, but what was really great was afterwards. There was a WWII Bomb uncovered somehwere in Düsseldorf so the fire department went around telling everyone to stay inside and away from doors and windows. Now, this is acutally not too uncommon, so it isn't a big deal... but all the missionaries had to stay in the church-- it was funny! We were staying anyway because we had interviews with Präsident Stoddard, but the rest of the missionaries were stuck! The bomb situation must have been safely handled and distinguished because there were no big BOOM noises or anything.

Plus, my interview with president was great. The leaders in the church are chosen by inspiration! It's just truth. And they are inspired because of that.
Happy 24th of July, Utah!!

Liebe Grüße,
Elder Jack
