July 6, 2015

If island missions feel like what it felt like here in Frankfurt last week, I understand why the "no swimming" rule could be a hard one to follow sometimes. It was blazing hot last week! And the best part was that Elder Robinett and I were outside in the heat for a long time because we need more people to teach! So we were on the lookout.

It was way cool when we met with some members yesterday before church. We had them teach us a couple points of the message of the restored gospel. I was honestly expecting a mediocre teaching experience with a bunch of fumbling for the right way to say things, but this couple was brilliant! They taught simple principles, asked great questions, bore strong sincere testimony, and even took the time to answer a random question and tie it into their message. Boom. They should be misisonaries. It was so great to feel the Spirit as they bore their testimonies! If everyone would share that kind of love with the people they are working with or who they live around, a lot more of our brothers and sisters would understand what kind of message it is that we share. We should all do that.

Also, it was reemphasized this week of the importance of keeping the Sabbath day holy. It is so so so important! Included with that thought was the importance and sacredness of the sacrament meeting. It is a meeting in which an ordinance is performed, and I was thinking of how reverent people are at a baptismal service or in the temple. Why shouldn't we be that reverent in sacrament meeting as well?

It is honestly getting easier and easier for my mind to slip onto the track of, "home is really really close now, isn't it?" It is not so bad that it is the only thought thankfully (otherwise I would have already started packing), but it exists!

Hopefully this is a cooler week!

Liebe Grüße,
Elder Jack
